It’s not everyday that you get the chance to see a legend responsible for the movement that changed the face of electronic music. This Friday Boston, you get that opportunity.

Coki, co-founding member of Digital Mystikz alongside the now-famed Mala, will be gracing the stage at Boston’s bass weight stalwart BASSIC at Good Life. As any history of dubstep (or electronic music for the past decade, for that matter) would go, Digital Mystikz and their legendary party DMZ in the South London borough of Brixton was one of the formative events in the history of the genre that would go on to be a paradigm shift in electronic music for the new millennium.

Household names like Skream, James Blake, Rusko, Loefah, Benga, Kode9 and countless others would all go on to describe how DMZ epitomized the cultural and sonic revolution gripping London in the early 2000s

While Digital Mystikz’ more visible front man Mala went on to tour the world over, collaborate with musicians from different nations, and even join BASSIC Boston for Together Festival 2012 and in May of this year, Coki has remained notoriously illusive. Coki prefers his home-turf of London and makes occasional appearances in Europe, but for us Americans, getting to see Coki Live is about as rare as the Exclusive tracks he’ll bring with him on Friday (don’t get your hopes up on getting those VIPs, bad boys).

This Friday Coki visits Boston for the first time!  This is not one to be missed. Judging by Coki’s track record, there’s no telling the next time he’ll be back…

Coki’s style is as thoroughly brutal and challenging as you would expect from a figure who revolutionized the way electronic musicians use sub-bass frequencies. Expect a full body experience.  No. Doubt.

Coki will be joined EshOne and hometown favorite Moldy of NYC’s Tuba outfit.

As they’d say at DMZ:

“Come mediate on bass weight”
